Congratulations upon reaching one of the most remote places in the web.

■ How it started

Over the years, I've been often suggested to collect my posts on *BSD in a structured and easily accessible manner. While personally I don't keep what I write in such a high regard, this website is born as a spare time project to address such need.

A couple of times I've been persuaded into joining unofficial wikis, and even started contributing, driven by novelty and cooperation spirit. Following the initial enthusiasm, the project's leader himself would quickly lose interest and become unreachable soon after, leaving a bunch of contributors without the admin privileges required to do basic server mantainance.

This time I thought I might as well self-host; at the very least in this way I won't be able to blame anybody else but me, were anything to go wrong. On the plus side, I can arrange things in accordance with my own preference and timing, thus to keep this project the leisure activity it is meant to be, rather than yet another commitment to honor. Also, no docuwiki, wordpress, cluttered forum design, just plain text wrapped at 80ch, which is more than enough for any form of clear and concise communication.

■ How is built

This website adheres to the principles of simplicity and slowtech.

Hosted on Raspberry Pi4, relying on a 27 mm mini-fan connected to the 3.3V GPIO to keep temperature under an acceptable threshold.

The RetroBSD Net runs the latest version of NetBSD's bozotic HTTP server. Posts are generated using Logarion, which you can find more about at <orbitalfox.eu>.

As I live outside city, where internet connection and elecricity are far from reliable, I cannot grant full uptime.

Still a work in progress.
